Yacht: Lady Sharon Gale

In the Bahamas timing is everything. The shallow water makes for wonderful cruising, clear water and great beaches, but it also means that travel plans must work around the tides. Many harbors are inaccessible at low tide, your Captain will advise you of any restrictions on departure or arrival times.

Day one: Arrive at the marina in Jupiter (serviced by the West Palm Beach Airport), settle in and depart right away for West End on the island of Grand Bahama. Captain Mike suggests that if your air arrival time allows, you board and depart prior to the standard noon charter time as it is long run to Grand Bahama. Alternatively, if you like the Palm Beach area, you may wish to board Lady Sharon Gale and stay the first night at the dock and leave after a breakfast on Monday morning. Either way, when you reach Grand Bahama Island, you are in a lovely and quiet anchorage. There are two fabulous restaurants in this location. It is a 40 minute taxi ride into Freeport for an evening of nightlife and casinos.

Day two: Depart with the tide about 9AM from West End and travel to Green Turtle Cay. You cross a shallow tide bank on a moderate tide and have a choice of a wonderful coral reef to snorkel or 3 fabulous beaches to wander. There are small settlements with restaurants and some cute shops. If you are enjoying this area and the relaxed pace, you may wish to spend another day here in one of the bahamas cays.

Day three or four: Leave Green Turtle Cay for Treasure Cay which takes about 2 hours cruising. Many call this location one of the ultimate beaches.

Day four or five: Cruise from Treasure Cay to Boat Harbor (Marsh Harbor) which is a popular resort area with restaurants and night life. Good area for swimming and relaxing in your luxurius vacations.

Day five or six: Long cruise back from Boat Harbor to West End again on Grand Bahama, a second opportunity to hit the casinos if you wish.

Day six or seven: Depart West End for Jupiter in Florida spending the night on the dock. Depart the following day.
