British Virgin Islands Yacht Charters

British Virgin Islands (BVI) are one of the most popular destinations for yacht charters worldwide, offering great sailing, scuba diving and snorkeling and a variety of islands to explore. Neighbors, the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands can offer contrasting experiences. The bustling island of St. Thomas offers a “shop until you drop experience”. It also has great beaches and resturants.

The island of St John is two-thirds Virgin Islands National Park, featuring fascinating trails, secluded coves, and dazzling white beaches. The British Virgin Islands Crewed Yacht Vacations will bring you back to the days of pirates and rum runners.

7 Days in the British Virgin Islands

Pick up on St. Thomas

Day 1: Meet your crew at American Yacht Harbor. You will be taken aboard your yacht, shown around and settled in with a Caribbean cocktail. Then sail across Pilsbury Sound to the second largest of the USVIs – St. John. Take your pick of the gorgeous beaches ringing the north shore – all of which are part of the island’s National Park System and remain undeveloped and pristine. Try Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Bay for the snorkeling then move over to Francis Bay for the night.

Day 2: Say goodbye to the good ol’ US of A and sail to the West End of Tortola where you’ll clear British customs. This is the home of the world famous Pusser’s Rum so be sure to try a sample as you check out the beautiful marina surrounded by prettily painted wooden houses. With a bit of Pusser’s in you, you’re ready to live the pirate lifestyle so head over to Norman Island. Anchor up at Cayes Caves and spend the afternoon searching for Blackbeard’s treasure. Then sail around the corner to the Blight where you can have a quiet dinner on board, or continue the skullduggery on The William Thornton (Willy T’s) – an old Baltic Trader that’s been converted into a floating bar and restaurant.

Day 3: Sail northward past Peter Island to Salt Island where you'll find the famous wreck of the Rhone – a 310’ Royal Mail Ship sunk during a hurricane in 1867. This is a must-see stop for avid divers and snorkelers.

Day 4: Sail up to Virgin Gourda. Stop off at the Baths, a true wonder of nature where boulders appear to have been thrown haphazardly around by some ancient Colossus forming caves, walkways and crystal clear pools perfect for snorkeling.

Day 5: Sail to White Bay and swim ashore to the Soggy Dollar Bar to trade in your wet duckets for a Painkiller or two. Then continue around to Great Harbour, home of the legendary Foxy’s. If you’ve got the energy, continue on to Little Harbour where you’ll find the nightlife in full swing at Sidney’s and Harris’s Place.

Day 6: Sail back to Cruz Bay to clear U.S. customs. Spend some time in the quaint, artsy community of Cruz Bay or try your hand at putt-putt golf at nearby Pastory Gardens. Sail around to Christmas Cove off Great St. James where you’ll spend a quiet last night on board.

Day 7: Snorkel the waters of Christmas Cove, have lunch and then it’s time for the inevitable – packing up and heading back to Red Hook and real life.
